During the holiday season, our focus is often on giving and spending.
We give of our time and energy to share joy, love and fellowship with those closest to us, but we also give boxes and boxes of gifts. To make it possible, a lot of us save throughout the year with Christmas clubs and other holiday accounts to provide a little extra cushion in the budget for gift-giving.
In the busyness and fun, don’t forget about the gift you can give yourself: savings. Whether a little or a lot, your savings will be there for you when you need it, and ever-waiting (and ever-earning interest that compounds!) when you don’t.
During the holidays – and throughout the year – credit unions give back too, with traditionally better savings rates and lower loan rates, including those holiday accounts.
They even work together in South Carolina through the philanthropic Carolinas Credit Union Foundation, providing educational programs, grants, and assistance.
